Chronic kidney disease affects 15 million Americans and significantly impacts their long-term health and quality of life. The National Kidney Foundation of Illinois (NKFI) provides educational programs and support for individuals living with kidney disease and their families, continuing education programs for healthcare professionals, and advocacy to advance initiatives that directly affect the care and treatment of kidney disease. Additionally, the NKFI funds medical research in the area of kidney diseases, including projects initiated by young investigators who comprise the growing future of physicians and scientists dedicated to combatting kidney disease.
